THE ADAPTABLE DINING CHAIR
I wanted to design a chair that was a reflection of myself - a combination of engineering and design. I was inspired by elegant forms and transformation, making the chair adaptable to the user's needs.
TREND RESEARCH
I conducted ergonomic research where I sat in different chairs to understand the relationship of seat pan and seat back angles, seat height above the ground, and seat pan curvature. My trend research revealed lifestyle changes that value adaptability and multifunctional spaces due to the increase in work from home environments.

FUNCTIONALITY REFINEMENT
Small-scale models helped me understand and refine structural support and usability needs. Taking these insights, I created a final design where functionality was added within its intended environment: the dining room.
FINAL DESIGN
Horizon is a dining chair intended for small-space living It has adjustable seat back heights and the ability to fold down the seat back to save space.
MANUFACTURING & ASSEMBLY
The curvature of the legs, seat back panel, and seat pan are formed using steam bent walnut.
